ViewAnyFile.app is a free, browser-based file viewer that supports 400+ formats. We built it because opening an unfamiliar file shouldn't require installing software, creating an account, or uploading sensitive documents to a stranger's server.
Our Story
ViewAnyFile.app started from a simple frustration: receiving a file you can't open. Whether it's a .heic photo from an iPhone, a .dwg engineering drawing, a .psd design file, or an obscure legacy format — the usual answer is "download this 200 MB application."
We believed there had to be a better way. Modern browsers are incredibly powerful — WebAssembly, the Canvas API, WebGL, the File API — they can handle almost any file format natively, with no server required. So we built ViewAnyFile.app to prove it.
Today the platform supports over 400 formats: documents, images, audio, video, 3D models, CAD files, code, archives, databases, eBooks, fonts, emails, and more. Every single one processes entirely in your browser. Your files never touch our servers.

How It Works
When you open a file on ViewAnyFile.app, your browser reads it using the File API. Depending on the format, our client-side engine parses and renders it using:
- PDF.js — for PDF rendering
- SheetJS — for Excel and spreadsheet files
- Photopea — for PSD, AI, EPS, and design files
- OpenCascade / IFC.js — for CAD and 3D models
- SQL.js (WebAssembly) — for SQLite databases
- Canvas 2D / WebGL — for image processing and rendering
The result is a file viewer that is as capable as a desktop application, but runs entirely in your browser — with zero installation and zero data exposure.

ViewAnyFile.app is built and operated by Ahsan Mehmood, founder of Xechtech — a software company passionate about privacy-respecting tools and open-web standards. We are a lean team focused on doing one thing exceptionally well: making any file instantly viewable, on any device, for free.
We support ourselves through privacy-respecting advertising via Google AdSense. We do not sell user data, show intrusive popups, or charge for core features.
